Touch Business: New Beginnings

Normally when you apply for a job, you're just applying for a role.
You apply hoping to actually be acknowledged, rather than just receiving an email back that feels like a script. Something that has been sent to dozens of possible candidates.

But when I was contacted by Touch Business, I was made to feel like my application had real potential. I felt like an actual person, not just Candidate Number 21.

That's when I knew I hadn't just applied for a marketing assistant job in Wigan. I had applied to be apart of a team, a family, at Touch Business.

So, you can imagine the surprise and joy I felt when I was told I got the job. At that moment, my career flashed before my eyes and I was excited by the potential this position had. Working for a company that recognizes you as an individual, an exciting role with a company known for its innovation, and the potential to progress and grow with the company? I felt like I won the lottery.

Every first day was a nerve-wracking prospect,
and I know I'm not alone with this feeling. But the excitement soon took over and I felt those first day jitters slowly fade away.

When I arrived I was introduced to the Marketing Director, Karen. She was lovely.
Karen showed me where things were, the kitchen, the bathroom, and then finally led me to my desk where I was able to take off my coat and put my bag down.

Karen let me settle for a moment before talking to me about the role in more detail, particularly the brands I would be working with.

Touch Creative focuses on the creative side of business, marketing, social media, PR, just to name a few.

Touch Recruit, which offered unique packages for senior sales and marketing and business roles.
Touch Telesales offered business to business sales and lead generation, and Touch Consults offered consultation services for businesses.

As a marketing assistant, my job would be to work with all of these brands, implement marketing strategies, but also work on client campaigns. To a lot of people, this role would sound overwhelming, but I knew I had what it takes to ensure the job was done efficiently and effectively.

I spent most of the day shadowing Karen, but I was also introduced to the rest of the marketing team. They were also welcoming. Even though I had only been there for a few hours, they made me feel like a part of the team in a matter of minutes.

When I got home from work, I was excited to go back the next day.
I had so many exciting things to talk about that night, and I practically talked the ears off of anyone who wanted to listen.

It wasn't just the first day of a new job though, it was the start of a new and exciting chapter of my life.

I can't wait to see where it will lead me.
